The Community Centre ”the Development” is a community center, registered under number 539 at Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Bulgaria and includes: the city brass band, the school orchestra, the dance ensemble, the youth theater group “Timok”, the library – 31,000 volumes.
The community center was founded on December 26, 1897 by a group of teachers from the primary school. The first president was Vasil Davidov, the first librarian – NF Nikolov. The first book of the library was then signed by Education Minister Ivan Vazov. The community center has always worked with the choir, theater groups, folk orchestra, and, later, with a brass band.
