Doychov Island is a protected area, disposed on an area of approximately 16 ha, included Borovo municipality, Ruse county. The floodplain forests that are home to several species of birds are protected. This island is one of three places in the Bulgarian section of the Danube River, known as the nesting place for sea eagle. Sea eagle is a protected species, its population in Bulgaria numbering slightly more than 20 individuals. The history records that the island was formed from sediments of the river, gathered around a sunken German ship and hence it is called – Island Doychov.
The island is a protected area and can not be accessed, but can be seen from a top panoramic located above the village of Batin, with binoculars or telescope, to follow various interesting bird species.
