The Museum of History in Gorna Oryahovitsa was there from 1962. It preserves the historical heritage of the region. The exhibits highlight the Gorna Oryahovitsa city participation in rebellion in the uprising in April.

The museum preserves the historical heritage of the city and the region, separated into four sections – archeology, ethnography, Renaissance and Contemporary History. The focus of the exhibition is put on the participation of Gorna Oryahovitsa, in the April Uprising in 1876, as the capital of the first revolutionary sector. Also, the Museum of History holds an annual series of thematic exhibitions presenting attractive exhibits forgotten and little-known facts and presents the history and lifestyle of the city’s everyday life.

In 2007 was accomplished the following series “Gorna Oryahovitsa citizens’ vices “, in 2008, “Gorna Oryahovitsa citizens’ habits ” and in 2009 ” “Traditional crafts of the citizens of Gorna Oryahovitsa”. The museum often exhibit its own collections of postcards, watches, calendars, radios, medals and railway accessories.
